League leaders Rowington handed out a lesson to Ashorne in this Division II encounter. Heavy morning rain gave a clear advantage to the bowlers who got first use of the pitch and when Matt Ashworth of Ashorne lost the toss Rowington had an easy decision to make.

Ashorne took the points from the inaugural match played between these two clubs at the delightful Ebrington ground.
Jack Jones – leading Ashorne in the absence of regular skipper Matt Ashworth – won the toss and elected to bat on what looked, and indeed turned out to be, an absolute ‘belter’ of a batting track. Jones, himself, opened the innings with Duncan Whitehead in a 36 run opening partnership. When Whitehead fell to a Page bouncer, Jones was joined by the in-form Luke Sharples.

Warwickshire CC Staff brought their 3 match losing streak to an end at Ashorne thanks to a 5 wicket haul by Edwards. In truth the visitors out thought and outplayed the home side in most facets of the match. Jack Jones struck a spirited (19) after the loss of the out of form Reading (0).

It took an immaculate and patient innings of 67 from Ashorne’s Paul Hedges to clinch the game in the face of Winchcombe’s late charge for victory. The omens were good for Winchcombe as they recovered from the early loss of Higgins to a beautiful yorker from Hendy to pile on the early runs thanks to Higgins (31) and Durston (30). |

Ashorne emerged victorious from a first league meeting between the two Clubs, after a keenly fought and competitive Division Two encounter. Skipper Matt Ashworth finally won the toss for the home side, (after 14 failed attempts!) and elected to bat first. Taylor and Reason – Camden’s opening seamers - both used the new ball with intelligence, calmly restricting Ashorne’s stroke play. The home batsmen, however, were happy to dig in and work hard for their runs, after a poor performance at FISSC the previous weekend. |

The longest day of the summer proved Shipston’s hardest as Ashorne claimed their first ever victory over their opponents. Despite the home side losing a clutch of players to their first team did not lessen Ashorne’s achievements after being invited to bat first on a dank and wet afternoon. Much depended on the mindset of Ashorne’s batsmen who had capitulated feebly the week before and on this occasion they were certainly up for the challenge. |

Following Saturdays last over thrill at Winchcombe, the Sunday boys went one better and stunned Grafton with two balls to spare after both teams witnessed maiden centuries by their openers. Because Ashorne struggled with player availability Grafton graciously lent us their number 11 and 12 to make it a ten a side contest. Grafton elected to let the visitors melt in the field first with instant results as the opening pairing of Hussleby & Potter bowled with width for the first few overs gifting the home side a great start. |

However hard the weather gods tried to prevent this fixture taking place there could be no doubt about the standard of cricket fare at Long Itchington in this Division II encounter. Ashorne got the better of this tense contest but it was mighty close. The home side struck early when Wood removed Reading yet skipper Ashworth and his second-in-command Jack Jones stood up to their responsibilities and offered determine resistance against a searching examination from Phillips and Wood. |

FISCC claimed the points in this Division 2 encounter and avenged the two defeats of last season when both sides were in the lower division. The all-important toss was won by the home side on a damp and grey afternoon when a reduced overs game was always on the cards. |
