Ashorne Hammered
As residents of Bretforton nursed their post-wedding hangovers, TG Sunday captain Slatter inspected a damp Ashorne pitch – damper, yet still playable, than anything in this or any adjacent county. Indeed, Russell’s description of it as “a pudding” had the skipper licking his lips – appropriate for what was to come even if misplaced in terms of reasoning. After an (eminently predictable) eternity, the opposition got themselves together – average age less than that of the current Arsenal team and about to go much the same way.

ASHORNE 259 FOR 6
TEMPLE GRAFTON 263 FOR 3
Temple Grafton ended their losing streak in record breaking style as Ashorne were defeated by 7 wickets. Finally winning a toss Grafton bowled first but looked toothless as Ashorne set a challenging target. Paul Hedges smote 85 and Tom Lewis hit 59. Benny Joyce comfortably the pick of the attack with 2-16 off his 10, exceptional bowling on a batsman friendly track.
In response, Grafton lost Simon Kirk in the first over, but Tom Benjamin (59) and Mark Russell (62) batted exceptionally through the rain to set an excellent season high partnership of 138 before both fell in consecutive overs having pushed Grafton well above the run rate. When Liam Killian and Alex Hopkins came to the crease the game was on tenterhooks, but a blistering unbeaten 108 partnership saw Grafton chase their highest ever total down to win with 8 overs to spare. Killer's 60 not out off 36 was a display of clean hitting and Winna's 39 not out testament to his improvement as a non-bowling all-rounder.
Temple Grafton beat Ashorne & Moreton Morrell by 7 wickets |

With many absences, and a couple of injuries a new look Ashorne team took to the field on a drizzly afternoon at Ashorne Meadows. Both new faces and old were drafted in, and under the leadership of Messers Moon and Freeman Ashorne made a strong start after winning the toss and deciding to bowl. After the first two overs, the opposition were 0-2 with the openers Lewis and F. Jones taking a wicket apiece.

Ashorne elected to bat on a wet and windy day, D. Whitehead started aggresively by smashing 3 lovely 4's to the boundry, after a brief chat with captain Jones where he was instructed to carry on in the same fashion but reminded he had a long time to go smashed the ball to mid off where it was caught in confident fashion.

After losing the toss and being put into bat Ashorne sturggled to cope with accurate bowling and a lively wicket (the wicket which will now be known as the nut buster!) after losing 5 wickets for no more than 50 runs two senior members of the Ashorne squad stepped up and showed the fragile top order how it should be done!

Gritty Ashorne Ruffle Title Contenders
The formbook was turned on its head as League leaders Shipston lost to local rivals Ashorne without a win in six starts. The visiting skipper correctly exercised his right to claim the toss due to the late arrival of an Ashorne player but may have rued that decision as the home side amassed their highest League score at home in nearly a decade on a blisteringly hot afternoon.

A well deserved 5 wicket victory for Ashorne over Tanworth & Camp Hill 2nds on Saturday.
A man-of-the-match performance from skipper Jack Jones getting 2-19 with the ball and 52 with the bat ensured that a fine all-round team performance wasn't wasted. Some good catches, sound fielding and tight bowling spells helped to keep the game within ashornes grasp even with a rain interval threatening to disrupt matters.
